Bosveld Sitrus (Pty) Ltd is a private company established in 1954 by Theodore Maximilliaan Thalwitzer, known as Mannetjie, who began the family citrus business on the farm “The Plains” near Letsitele, Limpopo. This farm is nestled within the renowned Letsitele Valley, surrounded by numerous citrus farmers, with the primary water source being the Great Letaba River.
Bosveld Sitrus (Pty) Ltd specialises in the cultivation of citrus and avocados. The company’s production units are strategically located in various areas, including Letsitele (citrus and cattle), Politsi (avocado), Agatha (avocado), Haenertsburg (avocado), and Magoebaskloof (avocado) region.
Bosveld Sitrus (Pty) Ltd operates its citrus packhouse independently, while the avocados are packed and exported by Westfalia.

Mabete Sitrus (Pty) Ltd
Mabete Sitrus (Pty) Ltd was established in 2005 when the Komati Fruit Group sold 42% of its shares to previously disadvantaged entities, namely the Bosveld Black Employees Share Trust (herein after referred to as BBEST) and Morua Trust. The board of Mabete Sitrus compose of three representatives from Komati Fruit Group, three from BBEST, and one from the Morua Trust.
The beneficiaries of BBEST comprises of 128 employees from both Bosveld Sitrus and Mabete Sitrus. Komati Fruit Group assisted the beneficiaries in obtaining LRAD grants and medium-term loans from a commercial Bank of South Africa to facilitate their 26% shareholding acquisition.
Komati Fruit Group manages all farming operations on Mabete Sitrus. The company primarily engages in citrus production and subtracts water from the Great Letaba River.
The farm has its own packhouse, known as Mabete Sitrus Packhouse.

Majeje Sitrus (Pty) Ltd
Majeje Sitrus (Pty) Ltd, a 51% black-owned company located near the Hans Merensky Nature Reserve in Limpopo, South Africa, has a significant impact on the local community and agricultural landscape. The company was established in 2021 with shareholders being the Majeje Traditional Authority, Komati Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd and Bruboer (Pty) Ltd. Majeje Sitrus (Pty) Ltd thereafter entered into a lease agreement with the Majeje Traditional Authority being the current landowner. The development plan consists of planting 450 hectares of citrus orchards on the vacant land.
Initially, this citrus project was a collaborative effort between the Majeje Traditional Authority, Komati Fruit Group, Bruboer and a Commercial Bank. With the invaluable support of Agri Enterprises and the Motsepe Foundation, the local community now has the means to fully realise the potential of their land and actively participate in the cultivation of South Africa’s most prosperous agricultural commodity, citrus.
As a result of this ambitious endeavour, numerous job opportunities, both seasonal and permanent, will be created and sustained, significantly improving the livelihoods of many individuals within the community. The farm benefit from a consistent water supply from the Great Letaba River, ensuring the success and sustainability of agricultural pursuits.

The Karino Farms (Pty) Ltd t/a Riverside Farm
In 1983, Karino Farms became part of our portfolio through a partnership with Carhunt Investment (Pty) Ltd, who holds 50% shares in the company. Located near Malelane and adjacent to the Kruger National Park, the Crocodile River forms the northern – and eastern boundaries of the farm. Karino Farms is a diverse operation cultivating various products, including citrus, mangoes, litchis, blueberries, and sugar cane. We also maintain a game section as part of Riverside Farm.
The day-to-day management of the farming operations, including finances – , human resources and legal aspects, are the responsibility of the Komati Fruit Group while the remaining shareholders contribute their expertise to guide the strategic and corporate facets of our company.
Furthermore, Riverside Farm features its packhouse for litchis, mangoes, and citrus – enhancing our ability to handle and distribute these fruits with precision and efficiency.

Golden Frontiers Citrus (Pty) Ltd
Golden Frontiers Citrus (Pty) Ltd, commonly referred to as GFC, became part of the Group in April 2011 when Komati Fruit Group acquired the company’s shares from Transvaal Sugar (now known as RCL Foods) and the Industrial Development Corporation.
GFC operates on five distinct farms, with four under ownership and one being leased. Among these farms, three are situated along the banks of the Crocodile River, namely, Hectorspruit, Whisky Farm (near Marloth Park), and Vergenoeg (near the Crocodile Bridge gate of the Kruger National Park). The most recent addition to GFC, known as Crocodile River Estate, was acquired in 2018 and is located near Nelspruit.
All these farms receive irrigation water from the Crocodile River.
While GFC’s primary focus is on citrus and soft citrus production, the group maintains a diversified portfolio that includes other products such as avocados, macadamias, and sugarcane.
Each of the farms — Vergenoeg, Whisky, Hectorspruit, and Crocodile River Estate—has its own packhouses. The Hectorspruit packhouse stands out as the Group’s most modern facility, offering both a normal and chemical – free division. Soft citrus from the Hectorspruit farm is packed at the Twycross packhouse,
In addition to these farms, GFC leases Waterval Sitrus, which is located near Burgersfort and receives water from the Waterval River. The soft citrus produced on Waterval Sitrus is packed at Naranja packers.

Mjejane Properties: Elsjan and Zelpy
In 2021, Golden Frontiers Citrus (Pty) Ltd and the Mjejane Trust entered into a lease agreement for the lease of farms Elsjan and Zelpy. Secured through a successful land claim, the Mjejane Trust is the proud owner of Elsjan and Zelpy farms. These farms are nestled alongside the Crocodile River, in close proximity to Komatipoort, Mpumalanga. Renowned for their exceptional soil quality, these farms currently cultivate sugarcane, but the soil is also well – suited for the cultivation of citrus, macadamia nuts, and a wide variety of other crops.

Richmond Kopano Farming (Pty) Ltd
As part of the Golden Frontiers Citrus transactions, Komati Fruit Group entered into a lease agreement in 2010 for lease of the farm Richmond, which is located near Hoedspruit in Limpopo.
Richmond is owned by the Moletele Communal Property Association (MCPA). In 2012, pursuant to an amended lease agreement, Richmond Kopano Farming (Pty) Ltd was established whereafter it replaced GFC as Lessee of Richmond. Currently, Komati Fruit Group holds 100% of the company’s shares, with the Moletele Community having the option to purchase 49% of the shares.
The lease agreement was renewed in November 2022, for an extended period of 25 years. Under the terms of this agreement, the Group assumes responsibility for all farming operations, including the recapitalisation and replacement of orchards. The lease agreement encompasses both a fixed lease and a variable lease based on turnover, payable to the Moletele Communal Property Association.
Richmond takes great pride in cultivating top-quality fruit and is primarily concerned with citrus and mangoes. The farm subtracts its irrigation water from the Lower Blyde River.
Richmond operates its own packhouse, known as the Richmond Kopano Farming Packhouse.

Moletele Limes (Pty) Ltd
Moletele Limes (Pty) Ltd is a private company with main objective to conduct the business of agriculture and related activities.
Komati Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd currently holds 49 % shares in the company with the other 51 % owned by the Moletele Communal Property Association.
In October 2019, Moletele Limes (Pty) Ltd entered into a lease agreement with Richmond Kopano Farming (Pty) Ltd for 60 Ha of land. Subsequently, with financial support from AB InBev, Moletele Limes successfully established 60 hectares of lime orchards under protective netting on the farm Richmond. AB InBev holds the primary option to acquire all the limes produced, any surplus quantities not acquired by AB InBev are distributed in both local – and international markets.
Remarkably, Moletele Limes has achieved self-sufficiency by generating its own electricity with solar, making the operation entirely self-sustainable.

Waterval Sitrus (Pty) Ltd
In 2014, Komati Fruit Group acquired Waterval Sitrus, near Burgersfort, Mpumalanga, with the aim of diversifying our citrus business to include soft citrus varieties. The fertile soil and favourable climate on Waterval Sitrus make it an ideal location for growing soft citrus. The strategy is to expand the production to encompass 200 hectares of premium soft citrus varieties. Currently, Golden Frontiers Citrus (GFC) holds a lease for Waterval Sitrus.
Waterval Sitrus sources its water from the Watervals River. Waterval Sitrus has procured the services of Naranja Packers to pack the fruit produced on the farm.

Olifants River Estate (Pty) Ltd
Bosveld Sitrus (Pty) Ltd purchased the Farm Margate in 1994. Olifants River Estate (Pty) Ltd, commonly referred to as ORE, was established in 2019 to encompass the management of farming operations and associated activities on the Farm Margate. ORE is strategically located 30 kilometers from Hoedspruit, nestled between the Drakensberg Mountains and the Olifants River. Its irrigation water is sourced from both the Olifants River and through the Blyde Pipeline from the Blyde River.
ORE is primarily concerned with cultivating citrus fruits, including lemons, grapefruit, and oranges and operates its own packhouse, ensuring full control over the processing of its citrus products.

Champagne Citrus (Pty) Ltd
Champagne Citrus (Pty) Ltd, established in the year 2000, is a company in which 51% of the ownership is held by Black individuals. Komati Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd is one of the shareholders of Champagne Citrus (Pty) Ltd. The current landholder of the farm is the Champagne CPA Co-operative Limited, consisting of 130 beneficiaries. A lease agreement has been formalised between the Champagne CPA and Champagne Citrus (Pty) Ltd, encompassing 340 hectares of agricultural land near Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.
The farm is used for citrus production and relies on water sourced from the Sand River, which supply water to the Casteel dam. Water is transferred through a canal system from the Casteel dam to the farm.
Champagne Citrus has established its own packhouse on the farm to facilitate the processing of its citrus products.
