Fuerte
Fuerte is pear shaped and might have a thinner neck sometimes. The skin is smooth and thin and bruises easily. A medium sized seed can be found inside a fuerte avocado. Fuerte is the most popular and commonly known avocado.
Hass
A round / egg-shaped fruit. It has a thick greenish skin that changes colour to purple and/or black when it is ripe. Once the fruit is soft it is a sign of being over ripe. The size of the seed found inside depends on the fruit size itself. It is rich and nutty in flavour.
Pinkerton
A definite neck is noticeable with the Pinkerton variety. This variety stays green even when it is ripe and has a slightly sweet taste. It has a rough-thick skin that does not yield to pressure easily. The seed is medium to small.
Ryan
Ryan avocado is an egg-shaped fruit with a slightly rough skin. It is evergeen in colour even when it is ready to consume and has a large seed inside.
Edranol
A medium to large fruit with a pearly shape. The skin is also evergreen with small white speckles. Shrivels can be noticed at them stem if the fruit was not mature at harvest time. A nutty flavour will prickle your tastebuds when this variety is consumed.
Carmen
Carmen has a dark and medium – thick skin with an oval shape. It has a smaller size, versatile and full of flavour.
Reed
The Reed avocado is round, very large and thick skinned. It might be the largest avocado of them all. It has a creamy smooth texture with a rich buttery taste. This variety is a seedling of Nabal, originally from California.
